Known by the Salish Natives as "S-cheet-oos”, the place of high cliffs, Point Defiance Park is an environment of unique geological structure and protected old-growth, which serves as a reminder of the rich natural beauty and cultural heritage in the Puget Sound lowlands. While the park is made up of four separate regions, these photos explore the two most untouched, the forest and waterfront. Featuring my beautiful girlfriend Payton, and our little golden Hazel.
Forest
With over 500 acres of thriving old-growth along the Puget Sound shore, the Point Defiance forest region acts as a living museum, showcasing the raw beauty and tranquility of untouched Pacific Northwest timber. A rare scenic treat in the age of deforestation and development, a dying ecosystem we must fight to preserve and protect.
Owen Beach
Rich in marine wildlife, tidal ponds, and towering bluffs, recently renovated Owen Beach provides a wide variety of easily accessible ecological treasures.
Water
Sea dogs, seagulls, and sailboats.
